New York, March 15, 2024

Dear All,

In May 2024, The New York Polish Film Festival (NYPFF) will be celebrating its 19th anniversary, continuing its mission to promote and present Polish cinematography in the USA.

Our festival is the largest annual review of Polish films on the East Coast of the USA.

Over 19 years, we have presented over 300 Polish feature films, documentaries, and shorts to the New York audience.

The festival has collaborated with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Anthology Film Archives, the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI), and this year with the Film Lincoln Center in promoting a review of films by Jerzy Wojciech Has.

After the pandemic, we were (alongside Lincoln Center) the first festival to invite the audience back to the cinema. Festival screenings take place at Scandinavia House on Park Ave in New York, where Polish films have been reviewed for several years.

We collaborate with New York cultural institutions. The festival is sponsored by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York, the Polish Mission to the UN, the Kosciuszko Foundation, the Polish Cultural Institute in NY. We are supported by Polish organizations, Żywiec, the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, and from Poland – the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Association of Polish Filmmakers, the Polish Film Institute, and the Festival of Polish Films in Gdynia.

Our festival guests have included distinguished filmmakers, Polish and American actors, and directors. Among them, the late Janusz Morgenstern and Elżbieta Czyżewska, as well as Katarzyna Figura, Filip Bajon, Ryszard Horowitz, Feliks Falk, Mariusz Wilczyński, Joanna Kos-Krauze, Jacek Borcuch, Magdalena Cielecka, Jowita Budnik, Agnieszka Holland, Małgorzata Kożuchowska, Kasia Adamik, Jan P. Matuszyński, and many others.

Master Andrzej Wajda was for many years the HONORARY PATRON of the festival.

Director Martin Scorsese was a Special Guest at the solemn TRIBUTE for Andrzej Wajda in 2017 and spoke beautifully about the significance of Wajda’s films and Polish cinematography in the world.

This year NYPFF plans to show important, latest Polish films.

The feature films we invite to this year’s festival include, among others: SOBOWTÓR directed by Jan Holoubek, CHŁOPI directed by DK and Hugh Welchman, ZIELONA GRANICA – Agnieszka Holland, FEAST OF FIRE – Kinga Dębska, KAJTEK THE WIZARD – Magdalena Łazarkiewicz. We will also present short films and documentaries.

Only thanks to the support of NYPFF Sponsors can we continue our mission of promoting and presenting Polish films in New York and organizing the festival.

We would like to enable creators to meet with the New York audience, and our viewers – to meet actors and directors. Polish films are increasingly heard around the world. We can be proud of the achievements of Polish cinematography.

Therefore, we ask for financial support for our activities.

We hope that your company will remain one of the sponsors, thanks to which we can promote Polish films in the USA.

Thank you very much for your help and support.

With respect, Hanna Kosińska Hartowicz
