As the Festival Director of the New York Polish Film Festival, I am thrilled to invite you to a remarkable event!

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Andrzej Wajda receiving the Honorary Oscar for Lifetime Achievement, the New York Polish Film Festival, in partnership with the Andrzej Wajda Film Center in Warsaw, will honor the legendary Polish film director.

This event will recognize Wajda's remarkable impact on cinema and his enduring legacy in the film industry. Join us as we pay tribute to his artistic contributions and celebrate his influence on Polish and global cinema!

We are proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our festival honoring Andrzej Wajda, by presenting his films and remembering his significant contributions to Polish culture.

Over the past two decades, we have proudly showcased over 300 films, including features, documentaries, and shorts, illuminating the richness of Polish cinema and fostering cultural exchange right here in New York City.

Andrzej Wajda, our distinguished Honorary Patron, has been an unwavering supporter of this mission, inspiring filmmakers and audiences with his compelling narratives and artistic vision.

The NYPFF has become the largest festival devoted to Polish cinema on the East Coast, providing a vital platform for cultural exchange and appreciation among Polish and American communities.

Our event provides a unique opportunity to remember Wajda’s famous films and to introduce new adiences to the beauty and depth of Polish filmmaking.

As we gather in May 2025 for this milestone festival, we aim to honor Andrzej Wajda's remarkable legacy by showcasing six of his iconic films and a diverse selection of contemporary works by younger filmmakers.

We will screen ”Ashes and Diamonds," "Kanał," "Promised Land," "Everything for Sale," Katyń," by Wajda, and a selection of Polish new films including futures - “The Girl with the Needle” by Marcus von Horn, “Under the Volcano” by Damian Kocur and “Kulej” by Xawery Żuławski, documentary “Las/ Forest” by Lidia Duda, and American documentary about Polish Art Deco artist “The True Story of Tamara Lempicka” by Julie Rubio.

This event will create a powerful celebration of cinema art that honors Andrzej Wajda and welcomes new and diverse voices from the Polish film community.

Your presence and support are vital as we pay tribute to Wajda's legacy and continue our mission of promoting Polish cinema.

Let’s celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Andrzej Wajda’s Honorary Oscar in New York!

This year's festival will be held from May 27 to June 1 at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Theater and Scandinavia House on Park Ave in New York City
